Abstract:
Statnano, which provides global and regional ranking regarding main indicators of Nano science, technology and industry (NSTI), announced that Iran ranked 7th in the world in terms of publishing articles and papers on nanotechnology.
1,300,000 papers have been shown on Web of Science data base in 2014, 9 percent of which are covering Nano-science and Nano-technology areas, the Iranian students' news agency reported.
Iran publishes 4.25 percent of the world's nanotechnology articles, standing 7th.
China, the US and India have produced most of the nanotechnology papers in 2014.
China produced one thirds of the papers. It is followed by the US with 17.3 percent of articles and India with 7.3 percent.
Iran stood 8th in 2013 ranking.
Nanotechnology is simply the manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale, which may be able to create many new materials and devices applicable to the fields of medicine, electronics, biomaterials and energy production.
Iran has advanced tremendously in the past years in nanotechnology. Nanotechnology can be broken down into nanocomposites which can also be used in agriculture, automotive industry and building materials.
Iran has unveiled eight nano carbon products with carbon structure; grapheme, graphene oxide, single-walled and multi-walled nano tubes, carbon nano filters, carbon nano balls and porous nano graphenes so far.
