Abstract:
A group of Iranian researchers carried out a review study on the effects of frequency caused by RAMAN spectrometry on the properties and characteristics of various nanostructures.
Results of the research fulfill the researchers and producers of nanostructures' need to carry out numerous and costly experiments to characterize the nanomaterials.
The development of nanotechnology in recent years has led to the production of nanomaterials with different geometry and structures. The nanostructures include fullerenes, single and multi-walled carbon nanotubes, graphene sheets, nanoparticles, nanowires and etc. Characterization and properties determination are among the most important challenges of researchers after the production of nanostructures.
According to the researchers, numerous studies have so far been carried out to determine the frequency for carbon nanotubes. Many researchers believe that this frequency is observable only in this very nanostructure. However, the presence of the vibrating mode has been observed in RAMAN spectrometry of other nanostructures too in the recent years. Taking into consideration this fact, the vibrations of various types of nanostructures have been studied completely to determine structural and mechanical characteristics of the nanostructures.
This research studies the theoretical and practical investigations carried out recently on RBM frequencies in nanostructures with different shapes. It seems that there is a direct correspondence between geometrical characteristics of nanostructures and their RBM frequencies. Therefore, a general view of RBM frequency has been presented for carbon nanostructures, spherical nanoparticles, nanowires and their geometrical properties.
Results of the research have been published in International Materials Reviews, vol. 60, issue 6, 2015, pp. 312-329.
