‘Oxford Instruments Young Nanoscientist India Award 2015’ to Prof. Arindam Ghosh

The ‘Nanotechnology Forum 2015’ was hosted by the ‘Nanotechnology Forum for Indian Scientists’, also known as NT Forum. The NT Forum was formed in 2014 to encourage research in the field of Nanotechnology in India and acknowledge outstanding achievements in this field. NT Forum received 43 nominations of research carried out by eminent researchers from India.

Technical talks were presented by, Sir Prof. Michael Pepper, University College London and Dr. Michael Cuthbert, Oxford Instruments UK. Committee member of the forum present on the occasion were Prof. A. K. Sood, Dept. of Physics, IISc and Prof. K. N. Ganesh, Director, IISER Pune.

“The NT Forum and its committee were delighted at the high quality of nominations received, and the award winner was selected on merit for their outstanding contribution to Nano Science in India. Nanotechnology research in India deserves this sort of global recognition and to highlight good quality research carried out here.” said Bharat Ratna Professor C.N.R Rao, Chairman of the NT Forum selection committee.

Anurag Tandon, Managing Director, Oxford Instruments India Pvt. Ltd. said “Oxford Instruments congratulates Prof. Arindam Ghosh on the award for his research on nanoscale materials that has great importance in the areas of Nanoelectronics, especially in the developing sensors, energy storage devices and medical diagnostics. His dedication and devotion to the cause of nanotechnology have earned him this deserving recognition.”

As winner of ‘Oxford Instruments Young Nanoscientist award 2015’, Prof. Arindam Ghosh was awarded with a certificate, medal and cash prize of INR 200,000/- for his achievement. NT forum would also arrange for him to deliver talks in foreign universities as invited lecturer.

About Nanotechnology Forum for Indian Scientists
The Nanotechnology Forum for Indian Scientists intends to recognise and support young researchers in India to encourage research in the field of Nanotechnology. The focus of the forum is to:

promote research in the field of Fabrication and Characterisation of nano materials and structures in physical or bio nanotechnology;
motivate young researchers in these areas of research;
increase scientific exchange between India and the United Kingdom
