Portland Area Company Takes Top Prize at National Cleantech Awards
Abstract:
Beaverton-based Puralytics, Inc. has been named the best clean technology company in the U.S. at the annual Cleantech Open awards held last night in San Jose, California.
The state of Oregon, through the Oregon Innovation Council and the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute, provided $225,000 in financial backing to Puralytics earlier this year. The four-year-old company's Shield 500 product, a desktop computer-sized purification device with the capacity to purify 500 gallons of water a day, utilizes a process called photocatalytics purification that uses ultraviolet rays.
