"ARCI is at the forefront of materials research,” said John Swindeman, CEO at Nanomechanics, Inc. “We are looking forward to co-managing this development center. It will bring Nanomechanics’ latest instrumentation to ARCI and will utilize the expertise of ARCI in advancing the fundamental understanding of materials research.”

The overall objective of the ANCC is to demonstrate the unique capabilities of Nanomechanics’ instruments and to enable fundamental and applied research in the area of small scale and surface mechanical characterization. This will lead to solutions to engineering problems, accelerated technology development and commercialization.

“ARCI is excited to join hands with Nanomechanics in the development of cutting-edge nanomechanical testing methodologies,” said Dr. G. Padmanabham, director at ARCI. “There is great interest among the Indian scientific community for such tools and the ANCC will certainly accelerate the growth of the nanomechanical testing marketplace in India.”

“As of this date, Nanomechanics’ has conducted its first joint workshop with ARCI and it was tremendously successful,” said Warren Oliver, Ph.D., president at Nanomechanics, Inc.

About ARCI
International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) established in 1997, is an independent research and development centre of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), government of India. The main campus in Hyderabad is spread across 95 acres of land and has operations in Chennai and Gurgaon. ARCI's mandate is the development of high-performance materials and processes for niche markets, demonstration of technologies at prototype/pilot scale and transfer of technology to Indian industry. The activities are pursued through 11 research centres, with the primary focus on the development of nationally unique technologies and application-oriented programs. Synonymous with its name, ARCI also collaborates with Indian and foreign laboratories, universities and industries for successful achievement of its goals. ARCI has successfully transferred 15 technologies to 27 receivers and few other technologies are under transfer.
