CTI Selected as Iran's Best Nanotechnology Incubator in 2011

Tehran, Iran | Posted on November 5th, 2012

More than 10 companies active in the field of nanotechnology are present in the Color Technology Incubator, and about six products have so far been presented to the market by these companies which are mainly active in the field of color sciences such as various types of industrial coatings including insulators, nanopaints, antibacterial coatings and vehicle body coatings.

According Dr. Mehdi Qahhari, the Manager of Color Technology Incubator, appropriate management in directing idea to the market was one of the reasons for obtaining the first rank in the Seventh Nano Award Ceremony.

"In order to move towards the commercialization of nanotechnology-based products, we established a company with the partnership of the members of the scientific board of the incubator and some active industrialists, so we could facilitate the path of idea to the market," he said.

"All ideas presented by the companies located in the incubator are studied by this unit. By focusing on its commercialization aspect, we next refer it to the relevant industry so that it would be presented to the market as soon as possible," Qahhari added.

According to the manager of Color Technology Incubator, the supportive role of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council and Tech-Market Services Corridor were positive and effective in this process.

As the future plans of this center, mention can be made of equipping the specialized laboratory of the center with the required laboratorial devices in the field of nanotechnology, accepting more technologist units in the field of nanotechnology, and helping the commercialization of nanotechnology achievements.

The following three incubators possessed top ranks in the Seventh Nano Award Ceremony (2011) in Incubators Section: Color Technology Incubator (CTI), Comprehensive Technology Centers in Scientific and Research Town of Isfahan (ICT), and Polymer Technology Incubator.

At present, there are 137 incubators active in the country and 23 of them have technological units active in the field of nanotechnology.
