Intel Shannon eyes further growth after ending 2008 back in black
Abstract:
The Shannon-based R&D arm of chip giant Intel last year almost doubled its operating profits to $3.2m (€2.2m).
Accounts just filed with the Companies' Office show Intel Shannon Ltd expanded its business to the end of December last by 36pc from $28m to $38m. Operating profits rose from $1.8m to $3.2m.
Last February, the company announced 134 R&D jobs developing "the most advanced silicon technology on the planet".
The €50m investment in the development of Intel's nanotechnology capability will bring staff numbers to more than 300 at the company's 'Irish Design Centre' in the Shannon Free Zone over the next three years.
