Abstract:
EV Group (EVG), a leading supplier of wafer bonding and lithography equipment for the MEMS, nanotechnology and semiconductor markets, today announced it has appointed Dr. Weonsik Yang as the new general manager of EV Group Korea Ltd. -- the company's subsidiary in Seoul opened earlier this year. In this role, Dr. Yang is charged with leading EVG's strategic efforts in the growing region. This includes strengthening the company's regional customer sales, service and support efforts, as well as expanding upon its existing R&D partnerships. Dr. Yang succeeds Bioh Kim, acting general manager, who will be refocusing his role as business development manager at EVG North America.

Hermann Waltl, EVG's senior vice president of sales, noted, 'Our aim is to provide our customers with the best support possible, and we are taking deep strides to expand upon our commitment to the Korean market following the recent opening of our own subsidiary. As such, we are excited to welcome Dr. Yang to expand our subsidiary's reach and spearhead our customer and R&D efforts in this burgeoning market. His extensive capital equipment experience, both strategic and technical in nature, complements our needs -- making him a vital asset to our Korean operations.'

Dr. Yang brings more than 15 years of capital equipment experience to his role as general manager of EVG Korea. Prior to joining the company, he worked in various roles with increasing responsibilities at Dongbu HiTek Co., Ltd. During his more than 10-year tenure with Dongbu, he took on a number of responsibilities, including roles within its fab process engineering, technology planning, manufacturing technology, and production support teams. He started his career as a team lead at Iljin, where he managed its new business development team. Dr. Yang earned his bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering at Seoul National University, and obtained his master's and doctorate degrees in the field from Michigan Technological University.

EVG celebrated the official opening of its Korean subsidiary in June 2008. The local office serves as the company's direct-to-customer site for sales, service and support, supplanting EVG's sales and distribution partnership model to adapt to the growing customer demands for localized efforts. The company is already working with leading semiconductor high-volume manufacturers and wafer foundries, along with various universities and research centers, including the BioIT National Foundry Center-which was established by Korea's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.

About EV Group (EVG)
EV Group (EVG) is a world leader in wafer-processing solutions for
semiconductor, MEMS and nanotechnology applications. Through close
collaboration with its global customers, the company implements its
flexible manufacturing model to develop reliable, high-quality,
low-cost-of-ownership systems that are easily integrated into customers'
fab lines. Key products include wafer bonding, lithography/nanoimprint
lithography (NIL) and metrology equipment, as well as photoresist coaters,
cleaners and inspection systems.

In addition to its dominant share of the market for wafer bonders, EVG
holds a leading position in NIL and lithography for advanced packaging and
MEMS. Along these lines, the company co-founded the EMC-3D consortium in
2006 to create and help drive implementation of a cost-effective
through-silicon via (TSV) process for major ICs and MEMS/sensors. Other
target semiconductor-related markets include silicon-on-insulator (SOI),
compound semiconductor and silicon-based power-device solutions.

Founded in 1980, EVG is headquartered in St. Florian, Austria, and
operates via a global customer support network, with subsidiaries in Tempe,
AZ; Albany, NY; Yokohama and Fukuoka, Japan; Seoul, Korea and Chung-Li,
Taiwan. The company's unique Triple i-approach (invent - innovate -
implement) is supported by a vertical integration, allowing EVG to respond
quickly to new technology developments, apply the technology to
manufacturing challenges and expedite device manufacturing in high volume.
