Abstract:
Iranian researchers from Kashan University modeled carbon nanosheets with a nanometric coating in a theoretical study.
This research studies the possibility to control dynamic behavior of nanosheets by using different parameters to modify their performance in various structures.
Carbon nanosheets have numerous applications in microelectronic and nanoelectromechanic smart systems. This research tries to control dynamic behavior of these nanosheets by using sensor and stimulant layers on the lower and upper surfaces of carbon nanosheets. It seems that the presence of a sensor and stimulant on the surface of the sheets increases the range of their application.
In this theoretical study, a carbon nanosheet has been coated with nanometric layers of zinc oxide, and it created a sandwich-type nanostructure. These layers play the role of sensor and stimulant. This way, the researchers studied and modeled the dynamic buckling behavior control in the nanostructure. The theoretical results increase the accuracy in responses to produce the practical sample.
Sensors and stimulants can be designed for carbon nanosheets to increase their efficiency by using the results of the research. Zinc oxide coating also prevents corrosion of the nanostructures. In addition, the dynamic behavior of the nanostructure can be controlled by using a controller.
Results of the research can be used in the designing and production of nano-seismographs, oil and gas industries, aerospace industry, marine industries and automobile manufacturing.
Results of the research have been published in Composite Structures, vol. 132, issue 1, 2015, pp. 506-526.
