Industrial Production of Nano-Based PVC Products in Iran

Tehran, Iran | Posted on March 20th, 2015

Very high impact strength, appropriate thermal properties and low final price of the product are among the achievements of the application of nanotechnology in the production of this product. The product has been produced at industrial scale for the first time in the Middle-East, and it is being used in three productive plants in the country.

Modification of polymeric products in building construction industry is vital due to the importance and wide range of this industry and its direct contact with humans' daily life. A wide range of consumers will have to deal with problems if these products are broken. For instance, if the UPVC pipes break in a residential building, the residents have much difficulties to replace the broken pipe.

According to Eng. Javad Moftakharian, R&D Manager of Aira Polymer Pishgam Company, the application of nanoparticles in the industrial production of UPVC products significantly increases the impact strength of the products.

"Impact strength of UPVC pipes has been increased up to four times of the standard value. The strength has been increased up to 5.2 and at least 8 times in UPVC profiles and UPVC joints, respectively," he explained.

According to R&D Manager of Aria Polymer Pishgam Company, increasing the rate of production in injection process and a decrease of at least three percent in the annual waste are among the most important advantages of the project, which has resulted in the level of satisfaction of the company customers.
