Abstract:
Iranian researchers succeeded in designing and synthesizing an engineering structure for separation of zinc ion.
Results of the research lead to reliable and repeatable analyses at low concentrations. Among other advantages of the research, mention can be made of less time requirement and the use of cheaper devices.
Some of materials that are less consumed are necessary for the bodies of living creatures due to the importance of biochemical activities. Shortage in the use of zinc in body may result in various malfunctions such as growth disorder, depression, skin and eye damages, problem in the treatment of wound, and other skin diseases. Therefore, human biological samples, including blood are used for the detection of the amount of zinc in the body. It can be concluded that accurate measurement of the amount of zinc in blood is very important.
The aim of the research was to present a method to researchers and research and laboratorial companies to measure zinc ion at ppb concentration by using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. In case the proposed method is not used, more expensive devices such as ICP must be used for this purpose. |
Results of the research can be used in foodstuff and environmental industries. It also has applications in the measurement of zinc ion in biological samples.
Ion cast polymer nanoparticles have many advantages over ion cast polymers without nanoparticles. Among the advantages, mention can be made of shorter time of extraction and higher sorption capacity. Among analytical results obtained from the presented method, mention can be made of low detection limit (0.15 µg/L) and high repeatability.
Results of the research have been published in Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, vol. 34, issue 15, May 2014, pp. 81-89.
