Brain Tumor Specialist Takes Helm at AANS
Abstract:
James T. Rutka, MD, PhD, FRCS, takes the helm just as American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) surgeons head into uncharted waters because of anticipated changes in both the American and the Canadian healthcare systems.
Building on the discovery of alterations in guanine nucleotide exchange factors (upstream regulators of GTPases), Dr. Rutka's group is working with the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering on designing a nanoparticle-based delivery system to treat gliomas.
