Medvedev calls for creation of venture fund
Abstract:
A venture capital fund is to be set up in Russia as soon as possible, President Dmitry Medvedev said during a forum in the Kazakh city of Aktobe today. Projects for the establishment of the fund's portfolio were drafted long ago, the Russian leader said. He noted that the projects involved the use of nanotechnologies in medicine, building, and the housing and utility sector, as well as in the power industry and dual-purpose technologies.
Speaking about Russia's cooperation in nanotechnology with Kazakhstan, Medvedev expressed confidence that each country would benefit from it. He pointed out that both Russia and Kazakhstan must expand technological cooperation in innovative sectors and increase mutual investment in hi-tech industries.
