SAMPE Tech conference welcomes 800 attendees in Dallas
Abstract:
The conference, which was integrated with SAMPE's 2nd Annual Nanotechnology Conference, showcased the latest advancements in materials and processing technology. A session on fiber reinforcement fabrics and preforms pulled in a large attendance, and its presenters received First Place recognition for Outstanding Paper. The presentation was based on the paper "Fabrication and Mechanical Characterization of Carbon Nanotube Yarns, 3-D Braids and Their Composites," by Alexander Bogdanovich of 3TEX Inc. and co-authors. It documented the first reported use of nanoyarn to make a 3-D perform. The nanoyarn is said to be structurally stiffer and stronger and possesses more desirable properties than conventional yarns.
