Pitt scientists get grant for work on tiny sensors
Abstract:
The same physical principal that allowed medieval craftsmen to add color to church window glass may soon enable researchers to design biochemical sensors the size of a fingernail. Those craftsmen of a millenium ago didn't know why adding gold particles to glass would produce cranberry-colored glass, or why copper particles made green- or red-stained glass.
