UTSA helping in nano project
Abstract:
Imagine a microscope with enough power to peer into the molecules of DNA that compose the genetic code of every cell.
Contemporary microscopes are nowhere close to that strong now. But a nanotechnology research team that includes scientists from the University of Texas at San Antonio has begun looking at ways of harnessing the energy of light in a way that could open new horizons in medicine and technology.
Better microscopes are just one of the potential applications for nanotechnology, said Andrey Chabanov, lead scientist on the Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team that has gotten $1.4 million from the National Science Foundation.
