Auburn Hills optic firm finds nano-film niche
Abstract:
Osmic Inc., a small company in Auburn Hills, has built a worldwide reputation -- and a steady stream of profits -- on developing extremely thin-film coatings that are at the heart of high-end optical devices critical to manufacturing in the aerospace, defense and semiconductor industries.
The coatings are also crucial to drug manufacturers that use the optics provided by the coatings to do protein crystallography that tells researchers if they are on the right track when designing new medications.
