Nanotube networks cut polymer flammability
Abstract:
Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, US, and the University of Pennsylvania, US, have found that if carbon nanotubes in a polymer matrix form a “jammed network” structure they can act as more effective flame-retardant additives than nanoclay particles. The addition of nanotubes also improves the mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of the polymers.
