SCCC to grow nanotech program
Abstract:
Hudson Valley Community College might have the best-known semiconductor manufacturing program in the Capital Region, but Quintin Bullock believes there is room for Schenectady County Community College to play a similar role in providing workers to the region's high-tech economy.
Bullock, who will be inaugurated as the sixth president of SCCC on April 30, says the school has big plans to expand the scope of its nanotechnology program to train workers for semiconductor manufacturers like GlobalFoundries Inc., which is building a $4.2 billion computer chip factory in Saratoga County.
"We want to also be a part of the conversation," Bullock said Monday in an interview at the Schenectady campus.
