China offers manufacturers more than savings on labor

Abstract:
When it came down to selecting sites to make its microsensors for consumer, industrial and automotive uses, MEMSIC Inc. chose China.

While it might appear to be another example of a U.S. firm seeking lower labor costs overseas, MEMSIC’s decision was based on many variables, economic and otherwise. And it was seasoned with insights into the massive yet mysterious market across the Pacific.
