Molecular electronics confronts reality

Abstract:
Molecules that act as electronic devices and memories might find their first applications in hybrid devices with silicon. But are they tough enough? Organic molecular electronics can be tougher than is generally expected, US researchers say. They have demonstrated molecular memories bound to silicon that remain operational even after being baked at 400 C and switched through a trillion read-write cycles.
