Abstract:
Rapid News Communications Group (RNCG) in conjunction with Roger Grace Associates are delighted to announce the final program for the session entitled MEMS Commericialization: From Lab to Fab to the Market scheduled for Thursday 8th March at MM/MEMS/NANO Live USA.

Final program announced for MEMS Conference @ MEMS Live USA

Tattenhall, UK | Posted on February 17th, 2012

The four presenter session, which Mr. Grace has organized and will chair, will address MEMS manufacturing, assembly and test issues. Concluding the program is a panel session comprised of industry experts representing MEMS infrastructure companies who will each address "Barriers to the Commercialization of MEMS" from different perspectives. All of the presentations and the exhibition at the two-day event are free of charge including the MEMS Commercialization session.

In the session keynote, Professor Yogesh Gianchandani, Director of the University of Michigan's Wireless Integrated Microsystems and Sensors Center, will address novel manufacturing techniques with non-classical MEMS materials in his presentation entitled, "Manufacturing of Microsystems: Emerging Opportunities in Biomedical, Environmental and Wireless Applications". Grace himself will then debut the results of his recently completed market study that grades the MEMS industry in its attempt to successfully commercialize this technology. Tammy Pluym from Sandia National Laboratories will present their SUMMiT V process which enables three dimensional micro miniature complex structures to be created using traditional MEMS processing. The final presentation will be by Yongyao Cai of MEMSIC who will present MEMSIC's approach to the high volume assembly and test of their high volume MEMS accelerometer and electronic compass product lines. A question and answer session will follow a closing panel session and attendees are encouraged to participate.

Mr. Grace concluded, "I believe that this session will be a valuable tool for people who seek a better understanding of the MEMS commercialization process. I have selected the theme and these knowledgeable speakers to align the session with the theme of the conference. I expect that MEMS beginners as well as those well-versed in the technology will find great value with the session content. These people include MEMS designers, people who create MEM-based systems, infrastructure suppliers, corporate management and members of the investment community.

Duncan Wood, Managing Director of the Events Group at Rapid News, organizer of the event said, "We are delighted with the caliber of speaker that Roger has drawn together and we look forward to a very insightful session."

Following its debut in Ohio, 2012 will see MM Live USA and new co-locating feature events MEMS Live USA and NANO Live USA move to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont near Chicago. The events will take place March 7-8th. The move to a more accessible location both nationally and internationally will have a positive impact on attendee numbers, allow continued growth and offer the ability to enhance the visitor and exhibitor experience.

Editor's Note: Editors are invited to attend the sessions at MM, MEMS & NANO Live USA as well as the Exhibition free of charge. Please contact Emma Smith at 011 44 1829 770037 or to register and request a press pass. A full program of presentations is available online at www.mmnliveusa.com
