Full Circle Investments plans $30M fund
Abstract:
Full Circle Investments LLC is raising a $30 million commercialization fund that will invest in young companies and technologies developed at a handful of research institutions, including Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
FCI Commercialization Fund I LP will focus on nanotechnology/microtechnology and information assurance, also known as cyber security. It began fundraising last October and has raised close to $10 million, Buseck said.
In addition to commercializing technologies developed in academia, FCI is also looking to invest in what Buseck calls "orphan companies," young nanotech or cyber security companies that once, had but no longer receive, venture capital support. He said here was "an overwhelming number of opportunities" in today's market.
