Somerville signs agreement to develop 160-acre landfill

Abstract:
In the fall, the landfill was added to the state's brownfield list, which will privy the borough to state funding for remediation of the site. Somerville also recently received a $2.5 million grant to begin testing on the site, which Gallagher said will be the basis for drafting a remediation plan. The Somerset County Business Partnership is conducting a market analysis it hopes will show that companies in emerging technologies -- such as bio-nanotechnology, bioinformatics and geospatial technology -- would be interested in moving into a technology park were it to be built on the site.
