Zyvex Performance Materials Enters Into an Agreement with Toho Tenax America
Abstract:
Zyvex Performance Materials (ZPM) stated that Toho Tenax America's Tenax carbon fiber will be used in the construction of its 540SE technology demonstrator boat. ZPM's carbon nanotube (CNT) enhanced prepreg, Arovex, will be made using Tenax carbon fiber for this project. Arovex is a high performance prepreg using CNT enhanced resin
The 540SE (Super Efficient) is intended as a technology demonstrator to show what boats are capable of when built with new nano-enhanced materials like Arovex. Construction of the boat has begun at Pacific, Washington, USA-based Strategic Composites.
Zyvex Performance Materials, Columbus, Ohio, USA, is focusing on developing nanotechnology to improve the properties of composite materials. The company's patented technology enables even dispersion of carbon nanotubes in composites mixtures. Toho Tenax America is a subsidiary of Japan-based chemical giant Teijin and supplies a range of carbon fibers.
