Abstract:
NanoBioNet e. V. and cc-NanoChem e. V. host the international conference "SIZE MATTERS 2009. Facing the ethical challenges of nanotechnology". The conference will take place in the castle of Saarbrücken, Germany, 17-18 June 2009.
Nanotechnology is penetrating many areas of our daily lives at incredible speed, opening up new horizons of expectation and hope. At the same time, it is raising questions which affect our individual self-conception and that of our society. Will nanotechnology change our future: coexistence, the work and consumer environment, social security systems? And to what extent are we prepared to accept such change?
Ethical questions are at the centre of four topic modules

About NanoBioNet
NanoBioNet is a powerful network of universities, research institutes, hospitals, and private companies from the fields of technology transfer, business, and finance. Its members come from various segments such as biotechnology, chemical nanotechnology, the pharmaceuticals industry, or medical engineering. Their shared interest: to create new, innovative products and jobs, support research and development and to inform the general public about the exciting world of nano- and biotechnology
NanoBioNet is involved in various projects along the entire value chain, from R&D through to the finished product. Topics such as "lifelong learning" or public relation play decisive roles.
NanoBioNet is run on an exclusively and wholly not-for-profit basis. The nine-person board of executives runs the network on a voluntary basis without any remuneration. Four professional members of staff are responsible for the network office at the Science Park in Saarbrücken.
