mPhase Technologies to Display Smart NanoBattery Model At NanoBusiness Alliance Product Showcase
Little Falls, NJ | Posted on March 16th, 2009
mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB:XDSL.OB - News), a leader in microfluidics and nanotechnology development, will participate in the NanoBusiness Alliance Public Policy Tour Product Showcase on March 19 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC. The mPhase showcase will feature their Smart NanoBattery which is currently being developed.
mPhase was awarded a Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program grant in September 2008 as part of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The Phase II award came on the heels of mPhase's positive results achieved in its $100,000 Phase I award in 2007. mPhase's Phase II award is being used to build a functional lithium Smart NanoBattery prototype for a long-term continuous power supply in computer memory backup and wireless sensor applications.
mPhase will present the most critical element of the Smart NanoBattery, their proprietary silicon based electrowettable membrane. Recent work on the membrane has led to a breakthrough that will potentially translate to greater cost efficiency and a higher manufacturing yield. The membrane should allow mPhase to create the first programmable, multiple cell battery with an extended shelf life.
"We are proud to have mPhase as a member of the NanoBusiness Alliance as they have been in the forefront of the reauthorization of the National Nanotechnology Institute (NNI), and have made great contributions to the nanotechnology community," said NanoBusiness Alliance Vice President Vince Caprio. "I have had the opportunity to see the developments mPhase has made first hand and am excited to see their most recent progress at the Product Showcase on what could be a revolutionary battery."
"The NanoBusiness Alliance Public Policy Tour is a great event and we are glad to have the opportunity to present developments made in our attempt to commercialize unique nanotechnology enabled products,'' said mPhase CEO Ron Durando. "The Alliance has been great for the industry over the years and we are proud to contribute to their continued success."
