In a description of the theatre project sent to the Company, Matt Hupe stated, "Your product will be a great base for us to have our client put on the walls first to add a buffer between the bricks and the furred out walls to get a decent insulation value for such a small space. As a bonus your product will insure they have a safe, comfortable and mold free facility for years to come."
Francesca Crolley, V.P. of Operations and Marketing, Industrial Nanotech, Inc. explained, "Our primary customer base has historically been the end user, whether it is a manufacturing facility or a homeowner. Recently, we have an increasing number of architects from around the country contacting us to learn more about Nansulate and how our energy saving technology can benefit their customers. Our new Sustainable Building Brochure, which explains how Nansulate can increase energy efficiency of pre-existing buildings and help Federal buildings meet energy reduction mandates, has been downloaded over 1200 times in less than two weeks. In addition, Nansulate was recently mentioned by an Oregon architect in an article in the Daily Journal of Commerce that discussed new 'green' technologies. We offer a solution for retrofit insulation that hasn't existed as an option in the past and architects are becoming excited about that. Nansulate presents an opportunity for architects to be innovative with energy conscious design and their responsiveness to our products highlights their sense of responsibility to contribute to more energy efficient building protocols."
The energy saving impact of Nansulate® coatings has been tested by a number of 3rd party laboratories. Thermal testing specific to buildings was done by an accredited international laboratory according to the UNI EN ISO 8990:1999 standard "Standard Test Method for Steady-State Thermal Performance of Building Assemblies" which is similar to the ASTM C236. The results showed that Nansulate® translucent coatings reduced energy flow through a wall by 34.8%. In addition, real world case studies measuring actual kilowatt use have shown reduction in energy used to heat and cool by as much as 41%. Testing information is available on the company's website at nansulate.com.
Pursuant to the Energy Independence and Security Act, it is mandatory for Federal buildings to reduce energy consumption by 15 percent by 2010 and by 30 percent by 2015. Many pre-existing buildings were constructed with solid walls and no area available for traditional forms of insulation. For these and other buildings, Nansulate® represents a cost effective means to meet these new government mandates for energy reduction.
