Tegal Signs WESI Technology (China) as Distributor for Tegal Plamsa Etch and PVD Products and Services in China and Taiwan

PETALUMA, CA | Posted on March 17th, 2008

Tegal Corporation (NASDAQ:TGAL), a leading designer and manufacturer of plasma etch and deposition systems used in the production of integrated circuits, MEMS, and nanotechnology devices, today announced that it has signed an agreement with WESI Technology (China) for sales distribution as well as service and technical support of Tegal's plasma etch and PVD products in China and Taiwan. WESI is a joint venture between WKK, founded in 1975, a publicly traded company specializing in the distribution of capital equipment and services in the Greater China market, and ECI Technology, Inc., the world leader in online chemical monitoring systems for VLSI dual damascene and wafer bumping plating processes.

Vahan Tchakerian, Vice President of Global Sales and Field Operations at Tegal Corporation, remarked, "With the signing of WESI as our China and Taiwan distributor, we at Tegal now have our global business house in order in all the important chip making regions of the world. We are very happy to be able to respond with greater effect, alongside our new distributor WESI, to the strong pull in China and Taiwan for Tegal's plasma etch and PVD products. Additionally, we will now be providing local support again to our customers in China and Taiwan. We will be servicing our large installed base of etch and PVD systems in this region using the more than 200 experienced sales and service team members WESI and WKK bring to our new China and Taiwan organization."

Marianna Rabinovitch, WESI's principal, expressed her company's enthusiasm about the agreement: "WESI is very selective in our representation of companies in Greater China. We are excited about having Tegal among our business partners, and we are looking forward to mutual success by capitalizing on this opportunity to represent Tegal and its products."

WESI, through its partner WKK Technology, has offices and support personnel throughout Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. WESI serves virtually every semiconductor manufacturing and semiconductor packaging customer in the region with a suite of capital equipment, materials, and technical support services, ranging from front-end process to back-end packaging.

Tegal will be co-exhibiting with WESI Technology in Hall 5, Booth 5159, at SEMICON China 2008, from 18 March 2008 through 20 March 2008.
