Bulls shrug off bearish fears

Abstract:
The most significant advancement in the coming year may not revolve around a computer chip, speculates former Argonne National Laboratory director Dr. Alan Schriesheim. Schriesheim, who earlier this year founded the Chicago Council for Science and Technology (C2ST), is bullish on nanotechnology, and believes "breakthroughs are more apt to occur in the biotech arena than in software [and related] areas."

Schriesheim added that while eventually there will be advances to conserve the energy supply through methods like converting saw grass to bio fuels, don't expect anything meaningful next year.
