New Thomas Swan MOCVD system for University of Virginia

Abstract:
AIXTRON AG announced the receipt of a purchase order for a Thomas Swan 3x2-inch Close Coupled Showerhead (CCS) epitaxy reactor from The University of Virginia (UVa) in Charlottesville, VA within the second quarter.

The metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system will be used to explore novel materials and structures for devices and circuits for various applications related to communications, imaging, spintronics, and medical diagnostics. It will be installed in the recently completed Wilsdorf Hall, a $43.4 million state-of-the-art facility designed to foster collaborative research in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, and nanotechnology.
