Advanced materials are another hot area, says Harris. "That encompasses nanotech and there are a lot of interesting things going on. Other sectors drawing a lot of interest include "Clean technology and energy, but I'm not sure what role VCs can play. They generally have very large capital requirements. But there are some areas where technology can have an impact, such as more efficient biofuels."
