Abstract:

More Than 50 Companies to Present New Technologies Seeking Funding, Strategic Partnerships

October 3-5, 2007

Westin Copley Place, Boston, MA

Medtech Insight and Windhover Information's 2007 ''Investment in Innovation (In3) East''

NORWALK, CT | Posted on August 29th, 2007

-Forty-seven companies have already signed up to present their technologies at the Investment in Innovation (In3) East partnering event this October, to an audience of company presidents; CEOs; chairmen; venture partners; managing directors; vice presidents/directors of business development, marketing, new technology, acquisitions, R&D and sales; and senior investment analysts/managers/directors.

In3 East, sponsored by Medtech Insight, a division of Windhover Information, is the largest East Coast strategic partnership and investment meeting for medical technology executives.

More than 50 companies with exciting new technologies will present, seeking funding and/or strategic partnership. These companies will provide 10-minute overviews by a senior executive from each company, followed by the opportunity to meet one-on-one in private breakout rooms. Presenting companies represent a vast range of technologies, including cardiovascular/interventional cardiology, diagnostics, drug delivery, imaging, minimally invasive surgery, nanotechnology, neurostimulation, orthopedics/spine, peripheral vascular, stem cells, stroke management, wound management and much more.

All In3 East presenters have been selected for this event by an advisory board of top medical technology venture capitalists, to ensure a high-quality slate of technologies.

A complete list of all presenting companies to date is available at http://www.windhover.com/mti/spk .

Guidant's Ronald Dollens to Be Keynote Speaker

Also offered at In3 East are keynote presentations and on-stage interviews with industry leaders; investment and financing panel discussions by prominent device industry executives; venture capital dealmaking presentations; buy side panels; and educational workshops for start-up companies.

The event will be highlighted by a keynote address by Ronald W. Dollens, retired president & CEO of Guidant Corp. Dollens' topic will be Leadership at Medical Device Companies: Achieving the Performance and Payout you Want. Over a legendary career that saw the company that would become Guidant grow from a small manufacturer of angioplasty devices into a global leader in cardiovascular devices, Dollens built one of the great medical device companies of all times. And his exit was as amazing as his beginnings: The acquisition of Guidant by Boston Scientific was, by far, the largest deal the device industry had ever seen — a true testimony to the prominence that Guidant, and Dollens, had achieved over the years.

In his keynote address, Dollens will discuss his career and the lessons he's learned, and offers guidance to device company executives about building a global device giant.

Other speakers and panelists include Christopher Velis, Chairman & CEO, Medical Capital Advisors; Jonathan Silverstein, General Partner, OrbiMed Advisors LLC; Rob Adelman MD, Private Equity Partner, Orbimed; and Thomas Pollare, Partner, 3i. Panel discussions include From Board Room to Court Room: How Well-Intended But Misguided Judgments and Decisions Can Derail A Promising Company; and Anatomy of a Financing: A Panel with VCs and Their Portfolio Companies on How Deals Get Done.
