Sedgefield awaits a day of emotion
Abstract:
As its coal-mining heritage has faded, its many colliery villages have become greener and smarter, new housebuilding has attracted better-off commuters and the employment base has diversified. Sedgefield, for example, is now the site of NETPark, a new science and technology park developing as a research and business base in fields including plastic electronics, nanotechnology and photonics. Durham County Council expects NETPark to generate 1,000 jobs within five years.
