Abstract:
Early-stage venture capital firm OVP Venture Partners (OVP) announced today that Mark Ashida has joined its investing team. Mr. Ashida will focus on security, networking and infrastructure investments, building upon his broad technology industry experience and his most recent experience as General Manager of Windows Enterprise Networking at Microsoft Corp.

Mr. Ashida brings 25 years of technology expertise and management experience to OVP, deepening and broadening the firm's unique balance of investing and operating experience among its partners. Prior to joining OVP, Mr. Ashida served as General Manager of Windows Enterprise Networking at Microsoft Corp. There he was responsible for Microsoft's networking infrastructure and security servers, representing over $450 million in enterprise sales. He was also responsible for Network Access Protection, or NAP, a new feature included in Vista and in the upcoming Windows Longhorn Server.
Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Ashida was Chief Operating Officer at InterTrust, a public digital rights management company sold to Philips for $453 million in 2002. Mr. Ashida has also been a turnaround CEO for a number of networking security and software startups in Silicon Valley. He graduated from Harvard Business School and Pomona College and resides in Seattle with his family.
