Boeing, Ford co-funding nanotech research at NU

Abstract:
Northwestern University researchers can stick a tiny piece of metal in an apparatus and create an image of how atoms within the metal clump together.

Much like 3-D images of a human patient's organs and tissues, the computer technology enables researchers to turn the image to gaze at it from any angle, noting how structures may vary among different samples.
