Science, The Centre Of Civil Society

Abstract:
Earlier, Prof C.N.R. Rao of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, delivered the J.C. Bose Memorial Lecture on ‘New Chemistry with Nano Materials' on the occasion. He said having nanotechnology is like having 1000 CDs in a wrist watch. Explaining Moores Law, he said the size of things (chips) decreases by a half every 1.5—2 years and the size of transistor is already nano. Use of nano crystals, tubes, wires, films and walls will revolutionise the global life. During the lecture, he gave interesting, inspiring and thought-provoking vivid glimpses into the future technologies.
