Innovation seen as key to U.S. competitiveness

Abstract:
Jeffrey Sparshott: Konarka, an American company named for a Hindu temple dedicated to a sun god, is balancing a new line of products on the edge of science and manufacturing technology. The company's "power plastic" offers something along the lines of a flexible solar fabric that uses indoor or outdoor light to fuel products as small as a cell phone or as hefty as a vehicle.
