Nanotech Investing: A Primer
Abstract:
Jack Uldrich: In the months and years ahead, investors are likely to hear an increasing amount about the emerging field of nanotechnology. Much of the news will be exciting, fascinating and, potentially, quite profitable. Pundits and analysts alike will speak of nanotechnology’s ability to create everything from hundreds of cancer-curing drugs to materials a hundred times stronger than steel.
The press surrounding nanotechnology may, in fact, grow so great that some investors will be tempted to dismiss it as mere hype—akin to the second coming of the Internet boom/bust. That would be a mistake. The science behind nanotechnology is real and talk of it being the “next industrial revolution” is not off the mark.
(Ed.'s note: I strongly encourage not only potential investors to read this article, but also anyone wanting to get a grip on nanoscale materials.)
