N.C. behind grant plan

Abstract:
Small businesses that receive certain federal research grants could get another infusion of money under a program that state commerce officials are putting together.

"It's very hard to get a couple hundred thousand dollars," said Richard Czerw, the president of NanoTechLabs Inc. NanoTechLabs has two $100,000 grants from the Defense Department to study salt-based lubricants that Czerw said could eventually have applications in manufacturing and the military.
