Council endorses industrial policy and nanotechnology initiatives

Abstract:
The Council also adopted conclusions on the Communication on a European strategy for nanotechnology, welcoming the initiative and endorsing the need to develop an integrated strategy to reinforce European scientific excellence and industrial competitiveness in this field. However, ministers also pointed to the need for a sustainable and responsible development of nanotechnologies, which addresses its implications for human health and the environment as well as societal, industrial and economic aspects.
