Effective Nanotechnology Innovations to Receive Mustafa Prize

Tehran, Iran | Posted on September 16th, 2014

The Mustafa Prize will be awarded to an innovative and advanced scientific activity that increases our knowledge about the micrometric world, and gives benefit to the human society with the aim of developing nanotechnology and nanoscience and highlighting the potentials of the young knowledge.

This valuable scientific and technological award was approved by Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution in 2012, and it is awarded to the top scientists and researchers from the Islamic countries during a biennial ceremony. Mustafa Prize has been named in respect to the great prophet of Islam due to his emphasis on acquirement of knowledge. Mustafa, meaning the chosen, is one of the epithets of the Islamic prophet. The prize will be awarded for the first time in the present year.

Mustafa Prize will promote and encourage the acquirement of knowledge and science by identifying, introducing and appreciating the top researchers in science and technology in the Islamic world. This prize also strengthens regional cooperation between scientific and technological institutes in the Islamic countries and helps the scientific growth in the Islamic countries by creating an appropriate environment for the scientists and researchers to exchange and share ideas and experiences.

The jury pays special attention to the sensible innovation in the scientific method, uniqueness of the invention and its durability. Moreover, the invention should have specific applications or its results must greatly affect the scientific world.

The Mustafa Prize is awarded to the four fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology, bio and medical sciences and technology, information and communication sciences and technology, and the top idea presented by a Muslim scientist. The winners of the prize in each section will receive the appreciation letter and the Prize's medal, and each of them will receive $500,000 as special award.

Specialists in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology are required to submit their inventions to the secretariat of the Mustafa Prize until 22 September 2014 at mustafaprize.org.
