The SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE)/SUNY Institute of Technology (SUNYIT) today announced Catherine Gilbert has been appointed Vice President of the CNSE Children's Museum of Science and Technology (CNSE CMOST). Gilbert brings with her a wealth of museum experience and a passion for fostering youthful curiosity.

Gilbert received a Master's degree in Museum Education from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Marist College. She has spent the past six-and-a-half years as Director of the Museum Association of New York, including her time spent as Executive Director of Museumwise before the two organizations merged. Prior to that, she spent nearly a decade connecting communities with the wealth of learning experiences offered by museums and heritage organizations by developing programs and resources at the Miami Children's Museum, the New York State Historical Association, Old South Meeting House, and the Boston Children's Museum.

Gilbert will lead CNSE CMOST through an exciting time as it prepares to expand and relocate to the Albany NanoTech complex. She expects to forge meaningful and sustainable relationships with the museum's growing membership, educators, and stakeholders while positioning the museum as a recognized partner for parents, caregivers, and schools.

CNSE CMOST is the Capital Region's only science center designed specifically for children and was named as one of Parents Magazine's top 20 science centers in the United States, providing an exciting, hands-on environment that encourages children to explore, discover, and imagine.
