Edmonton Economic Development Corporation: novaNAIT Valuable Member of Regional Alliance

Edmonton, Canada | Posted on March 23rd, 2012

Being based at NAIT means access to its centres of excellence: the NAIT Shell Manufacturing Centre and Duncan McNeill Centre for Innovation, to name just two. The Shell facility is the first of its kind in Canada, focused on improving productivity in manufacturing. The McNeill facility offers attractively priced office and incubation space for start-up companies and entrepreneurs.

novaNAIT coordinates with NAIT's leading-edge post-secondary programs and services, which include Canada's first nanotechnology system diploma, supplying a workforce for a fast-emerging industry.

The Greater Edmonton Regional Technology Alliance, of which novaNAIT is a member, is Canada's only grouping of incubators and technology service providers that nourish the success and growth of emerging knowledge-based companies and coordinates the region's business incubators.

Other alliance members include Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), TEC Edmonton, novaNAIT, Northern Alberta Business Incubator, Business Link and National Institute of Nanotechnology, TR Labs, the National Research Council's Industrial Research and Assistance Program, and Startup Edmonton.

"novaNAIT plays a critical role in the Edmonton region's success with nurturing innovators and start-ups, particularly in the areas of protoyping and scale-up expertise. novaNAIT has proven to be a highly collaborative partner, and we consider it to be a key factor to the alliance's success to date," says Candace Brinsmead, alliance chair and vice-president of innovation and technology advancement at EEDC.
