International Certification Confirms QuantumSphere's Long Standing Commitment to Customer Service and Satisfaction

QuantumSphere Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Certification for Quality Management Systems

Santa Ana, CA | Posted on August 31st, 2010

QuantumSphere, Inc., a world leader in the manufacture and development of award winning nano catalysts and integrated catalytic solutions for multiple clean energy and power storage applications, today announced that it has achieved the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 Certification. The ISO 9001:2008 Certification is another demonstration of QuantumSphere's commitment to meeting globally recognized quality management system requirements and regulations for the manufacture of advanced nanoscale catalysts. QuantumSphere products address high-value commercial applications across a range of carefully selected multi-billion dollar clean energy and power storage markets, with customers in emissions reduction, chemical production, batteries, and fuel cells.

Significant growth in supplying more efficient catalysts and components to a myriad of clean energy, chemical, and power storage industries, combined with the increasing application of QuantumSphere's proprietary advanced materials and integrated catalytic solutions, served as a catalyst for achieving ISO 9001:2008 Certification.

"Historically, a large percentage of the nanotechnology business involved longer-term and very costly R&D projects. While this enabling technology and industry are still quite young, both have lagged behind others in regards to suppliers scaling up and achieving ISO Certification," said Brendan McKenney, director of operations. "QuantumSphere, however, has focused its efforts on providing near-term commercially viable solutions for industry leading customers in large and growing markets such as emissions reduction, chemical production, batteries, and fuel cells. These end-use applications, along with our customers and partners, require extremely high levels of quality and consistency from QuantumSphere. Accordingly, ISO 9001:2008 Certification was a significant priority for QuantumSphere that has now been achieved."

"Achieving ISO 9001:2008 Certification is an important milestone for QuantumSphere. This certification illustrates to customers worldwide our strong commitment to quality at all levels of our organization," said Kevin Maloney, president and CEO. "Customers want to be confident that they are doing business with an organization that can consistently meet or exceed their needs and deliver in a timely manner. Successfully completing the rigorous process required for ISO Certification is evidence that our entire organization is devoted to continually improving our quality management systems."

The successful ISO certification was made through BSI Management Systems, an accredited registrar that performs assessments of management systems against requirements of national and international standards for quality.

ISO 9001:2008 is an internationally recognized standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It is designed to provide companies with a set of principles that ensure a systematic approach to achieving customer satisfaction. ISO certification is not for the company product, it is for the process that produces the product. ISO certification is firmly established as the globally implemented standard for providing assurance about the ability to satisfy quality requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction in supplier-customer relationships.

About QuantumSphere
Founded in 2002, QuantumSphere, Inc. (QSI or the Company) is a world leader in the manufacture and development of award winning nano catalysts and integrated catalytic solutions backed by over 50 patents issued and applications pending. QSI products address high-value commercial applications across a range of carefully selected multi-billion dollar clean energy and power storage markets, with customers in emissions reduction, chemical production, batteries, and fuel cells. QSI's catalysts and components have demonstrated breakthrough results, reducing costs and increasing efficiency in the generation, storage, and use of energy and the production of key chemical end-products and intermediates. QSI is poised for expansion and profitability as multiple customer applications are being launched or are in development.

According to industry estimates, more than 80% of the world's large-scale chemical processes depend on catalysts, including petroleum refining, pollution abatement, food processing, and production of fuels and chemicals. Catalysts are now seen as one of the preferred ways to improve process efficiency, lower costs, increase output, and meet both performance and environmental standards. This is placing a strong emphasis on the development of new catalysts with higher activity, increased longevity, and reduced environmental and/or health impact.
