Jobs program may bar NNY firms
Abstract:
The Senate and Assembly have separate proposals in their respective 2010-11 budget bills. The Senate's keeps the 50-job requirement but also says that any business with significant potential for private-sector growth could qualify.
The Assembly proposal, dubbed "Empire Innovation Zones," lowers the job number requirement to five and targets high-tech, nanotechnology, clean and green technology, biotechnology and life sciences, alternative energy and Internet publishing businesses.
