$3M for SBU research

Abstract:
Congressman Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) announced Jan. 12 that he successfully secured $3 million for Stony Brook University to enable remote biological sensing in the FY 2010 Defense Appropriations Bill, which has been signed into law. The legislation allocates important funding that will contribute to strengthening our military and our troops.

This support will be used to develop a wireless power transmission and storage system which will be used for charging and monitoring portable electronics used in military, biomedical, and consumer applications. This system will incorporate new advances in nanotechnology which have enabled the development of light weight, low power, and addressable electronic devices.
