Abstract:
Picosun Oy, Finland-based global manufacturer of state-of-the-art Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) systems, organizes its first ever World Forum in the Greater Helsinki area of Finland from June 9th to 10th.

2009 Picosun World Forum starts today

Espoo, Finland | Posted on June 8th, 2009

Starting today, Picosun World Forum 2009 gathers Picosun's own personnel and personnel from its global network of sales representation for a two day dive into the world of Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), its fascinating past and glorious future.

Certain highs on the agenda of Picosun World Forum would easily be the envy of any ALD-related conference. The inventor of the ALD method, Dr. Tuomo Suntola goes through 35 years of ALD development from the very first nucleus of an idea to the grand visions for future. Dr. Suntola is a shareholder and a member of the Board of Directors of Picosun.

A legend of ALD equipment design, Picosun's Chief Technology Officer Mr Sven Lindfors explains the evolution of ALD hardware in his presentation titled "Fifteen Generations of ALD Reactors". Mr Lindfors is the only person in the world who has been instrumental in realizing each and every one of the 15 ALD reactor generations thus far. Dr. Suntola: "Sven seems to know intuitively what works and what does not work in ALD reactor technology. I do not know another person with the same rare qualities." Sven Lindfors is a shareholder and a founder of Picosun. He is also member of the Board of Directors of the company.

Professor, Dr.Tech Lauri Niinistö is one of very few true pioneers of the scientific study of ALD in academia. He has been instrumental both in his own country and globally in starting ALD research and expanding its meaning as one important field of non-organic chemistry. Professor Niinistö addresses the participants of the World Forum explaining the latest in ALD processes and applications. Professor Niinistö is a shareholder and a member of the Board of Directors of Picosun.

Mr. Juhana Kostamo, Managing Director of Picosun, together with other key people, such like Picosun's U.S. director Dr. Charles M. Dezelah, Picosun's Technical Application Manager, Dr. Kai-Erik Elers, and the Managing Director of Altech Alt Co of Japan, Mr. Hiroshi Sato, will study the global ALD market and Picosun's apparent formula for success in their presentations.

"Picosun is immensely proud in being able to invite our global sales network to the beautiful city of Helsinki and its surroundings. Thus far, the global recession has not been felt too much at Picosun. Picosun represents the brightest of the latest in the field of ALD technology and clearly benefits from its unique position, regardless of global business trends," explains Juhana Kostamo.

"In any given business environment, success comes from being able to look at the horizon, identify what is coming next, and act decisively on that information. In technology, scientific institutions and business enterprises which keep abreast with the cutting edge of tomorrow's demands will emerge as winners from the deepest of recessions. Picosun is very happy to count such players as its customers," Juhana Kostamo says.
