NanoBusiness 2009 Conference to Relocate from New York City to Chicago: Event to Be Held September 8 – 10 at McCormick Place
Chicago, IL | Posted on April 21st, 2009
The move reflects NanoBusiness 2009's focus on revitalizing the economy through nanotechnology innovation, and is expected to attract a larger base of traditional companies with an eye towards the acceleration, deployment and commercialization of nanotech innovations. Illinois is a natural host for the event, with a large manufacturing base, world class nanoscience research, and a vibrant and growing community of nanotechnology innovators.
"After seven successful years producing our NanoBusiness Conferences in New York City, we believe the time is right to bring our industry-leading event to Chicago," said Sean Murdock, Executive Director of the NanoBusiness Alliance, "The State of Illinois' support in bringing this conference to Chicago shows that nanotechnology is a strategic investment in the state's economy. This conference not only supports the continued emergence of a cluster in Illinois, but also makes it as easy and cost effective as possible for traditional manufacturing companies to engage and partner with leading edge technology companies."
"Governor Quinn and the State of Illinois recognize the transformative role that nanotechnology is playing in our economy," said Warren Ribley, Director Designee of the Illinois Department Commerce and Economic Opportunity. "Our support for this conference is about developing high yield economic opportunities and creating jobs in Illinois."
"As our New York-based conferences were important to initiate a dialog with the Wall Street community, it's equally important that we are now located where we can communicate directly with the larger, more traditional companies who can bring innovation to the marketplace, and deliver on nanotechnology's promise to improve our environment, health and the economy," added Vincent Caprio, NanoBusiness Alliance Vice President and Event Director. "With that in mind, it's clear that Chicago is the perfect choice for our new NanoBusiness conferences."
NanoBusiness 2009 will feature an expanded conference program, with presentations by more than 100 speakers over three days. Conference tracks include Health/Medical, Energy, Electronics, Water, Defense, Construction, Tools/Metrology, and Advanced Materials. In addition, the move from a hotel-based event to a larger convention center provides for increased exhibition capabilities.
