Iran Urges OIC Support for Innovation

Abstract:
Iran urged the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to further support scientific and technological progress in its member states.

Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Mahdi Zahedi, who is in Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad to attend an OIC meeting called for the Islamic body's financial support in its member states, IRNA reported.

Zahedi highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms to have financial support for the nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and energy sectors in the Muslim countries.

He pointed to the major role of science and technology parks in developing the necessary infrastructure for the progress of countries.
